Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the music industry has seen some unprecedented times over the past year. Song contests and music award ceremonies were getting postponed, musicians were forced to delay or cancel all kinds of events, tours, benefit concerts, etc. Perhaps for many artists, having this much unplanned spare time with no other obligations turned out to be beneficial in the sense that they were able to write more music and come back with new material and in full force this year. At the same time, we were not left without entertainment as thanks to some great musicians that were streaming live from their homes and performing for us, we felt more united than ever! And now, while entering the 2021 refreshed and with the hope of better times ahead, we are looking forward for the new releases from some of our favorite musicians.
Alice Cooper
The shock-rock pioneer Alice Cooper, with a career spanning over 50 years will release his 21st solo album, called Detroit Stories on February 26. The album is a homage to the city that first recognized his music style and stage shows, by being “the Heavy Rock central then” as the musician says, and also the place where he was born. Two singles from the album, “Rock & Roll” and “Our Love Will Change The World” have been released so far and the album is also available on pre-order.
Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry is the highly anticipated documentary about the young and sensational singer-songwriter. The movie is expected in February 26, and it would be giving us a closer look into the singer’s life and the journey of making her debut album. Last year she swept 5 Grammys, including best new artist and song of the year with “Bad Guy”, this one being shared with her brother and producer Finneas O`Connell. She became the youngest Grammy winner in the top four categories. Last year she made more history by also becoming the youngest ever singer to write and record the theme song for a James Bond movie, which she did together with her elder brother and the song is called “No Time To Die”.
Foo Fighters
Their 10th studio album, Medicine at Midnight was initially scheduled for 2020 for the band’s 25th anniversary, but the release was delayed due to the pandemic. The date to expect it is February 5, 2021! Its first released single “Shame Shame” is out since November last year, and the second one “No Son of Mine” came out on January 1, 2021. Dave Grohl, Foo Fighters’ singer and guitarist, has stated that the first single “Shame Shame” is very dissimilar to what they usually do, which led them to a different sound for the whole new album, Medicine at Midnight.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus is one of the rare examples of a successful child-actor, turning into a singer. Her career shot off with the television series Hannah-Montana, where she became a teen idol. She is now a singer, songwriter, actress, and a record producer and has a very distinctive voice and also goes into different styles of music. The latest news is that she is covering Metallica, collaborating with Elton John, Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Yo-Yo Ma. We simply can’t wait for this to come out!
Sting
The English musician Sting was the frontman, bassist, songwriter of the band The Police from 1977 to 1984. Subsequently, he’s been having a very successful solo career and has won a total of 17 Grammy Awards and has been nominated 38 times, while being active since 1971. He is a singer, songwriter and an actor, and has sold over 100 million records. The releasing date of his new album Duets is March 19, 2021 and as the name says it will be a collection of his collaborations during the course of his career so far. It will feature “It’s Probably Me” with Eric Clapton, “Rise & Fall” with Craig David, “We’ll Be Together” with Annie Lennox, “Fragile” with Julio Iglesias and so on. Willie Nelson
One of the most recognized country musicians, Willie Nelson has an upcoming album that is going to be his 71st solo studio album and it is called That’s Life. It is coming out on February 26, 2021 and that would be his second tribute to Frank Sinatra, after his previous cover album – My Way. Additionally, the album was mostly recorded on one of the original studios used by Sinatra. Among the biggest influencers on Nelson’s singing has been precisely Sinatra and it will be great to hear That’s Life!
