Yamaha debuts Ty Tabor RGX-TT Electric GuitarIn an ever-changing musical landscape, hard rock continues to thrive. As a tribute to the thousands of musicians who have kept its driving beat alive, Yamaha Corporation of America introduces the RGX-TT electric guitar at Winter NAMM 2000–a product of the collaboration between Yamaha Guitar Development and Ty Tabor, best known for his work with progressive rock act Kings X. The new units, which are the first in a series of redesigned RGX guitars, will begin shipping June, 2000. "This guitar is what I believed a guitar should look, feel, and sound like," explains Tabor. "It’s got tried and true electronics and an appearance that would make anyone want to pick it up and play it. Yamaha and I basically kept refining our ideas until we had an instrument that was up to everyone’s standards." He continues, "Having a signature instrument is really a dream come true. "It’s great to be able to work with a company like Yamaha that respects your ideas and opinions and lets you be honest. Together, we’ve come up with a great product." The RGX-TT has been developed for the touring professional, intermediate pro, and serious rock musician looking for a second or third instrument. It features Tabor’s specified double cutaway Basswood body with extreme contours and a distinctive raised, figured maple center platform. The contemporary, fast maple neck sports a slick rosewood 22-fret fingerboard and easy-view position markers. The 12-degree angled headstock features a "3D" design with three tuners per side, straight string pull, and durable black Sperzel Tremlock hardware. The RGX-TT include all the tools rock players need: Duncan® Vintage Rail neck and middle pickups, Duncan JB bridge pickups, and Wilkinson® VS100 Tremolo. "Yamaha has always supported the entire spectrum of the music industry," said David Bergstrom, director of marketing, Combo Group, Pro Audio & Combo Division. "We want to be able to fulfill the equipment needs of all musicians, regardless of their genre. That’s why we are proud of our relationship with the rock community and of Ty Tabor’s input on the new RGX line. This guitar is a rock machine in every sense."
