Bay Area Studio and Music Production uses MSR StudioPanel Acoustic SolutionsFairfax, CA-based MSR, Inc., makers of the pre-engineered StudioPanel acoustic solutions, announced that a new San Francisco Bay-area electronic game audio production studio, studio.jory.org, has chosen to employ numerous absorber/diffusor pairs of StudioPanels in the studio’s recently-completed tracking and control rooms in Marin County, CA.A total of one hundred two (102) of MSR’s acoustic treatments are utilized in the new facility’s production rooms. There are 80 panels in the tracking room alone, 64 of which are paired-up in a uniquely implemented acoustic control scheme. These 32 pairs may be easily and quickly rotated to either subtly — or dramatically — alter the sound signature of the comfortable tracking room. studio,jory.org’s spacious ProTools control room also relies on an additional complement of twenty-two (22) StudioPanel units. The sonically accurate 5.1 control room features a digital workstation centered on a 3-LCD display “cockpit,” as well numerous racks of outboard audio equipment. The new studio facility was created to offer game developers a state-of-the-art recording studio with a specific focus on game audio production. Jory Prum, the owner/principal and resident engineer of studio.jory.org, commented: “I am excited to provide important new services to game audio producers and developers in the Bay Area. In the past, it was very challenging for producers to find a recording studio that understands the idiosyncrasies of game development and specializes in sound for games. A large percentage of game audio producers work in a tiny sound editing suite with little or no access to a quality recording and mixing environment. studio.jory.org has solved this problem for its unique clientele.” Jory is intimately familiar with these challenges. Prum has worked on more than two dozen games for industry leaders such as: LucasArts, BioWare, EA/Maxis and Sony/989 Sports. With more than a decade of experience in audio production, including several dozen motion pictures, Jory has also been involved on three Academy Award-winning films: Pixar Animation Studio's For the Birds, Sophia Coppola's Lost in Translation, and Spike Jonez' Adaptation. “Thanks to the StudioPanel system, we offer a fully equipped recording space with the ability to customize room acoustics.
