Open Chord
An open chord is the term used to describe the playing of a chord on a stringed instrument like guitar. In this chord stringes are played that are not fretted by the left hand.
An open chord usually means some notes are played by fretting them on the instrument's neck and some notes are produced by playing the strings open.An example of an open chord is the E major chord when played in the basic position. On guitar most used chords are open chords.Open chords on bass are hardly played at all because the strings ring and sound too long and the notes are too low. Most chords on bass are played higher up the neck.
