Allen & Heath exclusive DJ mixer supplier Ultra Music FestivalAllen & Heath was the exclusive DJ mixer supplier for this year's annual Ultra Music Festival USA in Miami, with Xone mixers in use on all 11 stages of the 14-hour long event.Now in its sixth year, Ultrafest is one of the premier event on the dance calendar, and was attended by an estimated 50,000 dance music enthusiasts at Miami's 32-acre Bayfront Park during the annual Winter Music Conference in early March. Ultrafest's two main stages each featured Allen & Heath's new cutting-edge Xone:92 mixer, which incorporates advanced sound manipulation tools and MIDI capabilities. Allen & Heath Xone:62 DJ mixers were provided for all other stages, with a Xone:02 stereo pro turntablist DJ mixer for the hip-hop arena. In addition to performances by the many DJs in attendance, including Richie Hawtin, John Digweed, Sasha, the Chemical Brothers, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Tiësto, D:Fuse, Sander Kleinenberg, and Dara, several live performers also made use of Allen & Heath consoles. Grayarea, Deepsky and Infusion all integrated their personal Allen & Heath live sound consoles into the Ultrafest performance sound systems. Notorious rock drummer Tommy Lee also played through a Xone:62 mixer while adding live percussion to a DJ performance. Ultrafest main stage manager Ian Gotts was so impressed with the operation and sound quality of the Allen & Heath Xone:92 that he insisted on using the mixer for DanceStar USA 2004 - the Third Annual American Dance Music Awards at Bayfront Park a few days later. The DanceStar USA awards show is the world's largest televised electronic music event, and will be broadcast on MTV. "The Xone:92 is great," comments Gotts. "The opening DJ before the DanceStar awards, Jason Bentley, used the mixer, and we used the same setup for a live performance by Motorcycle - Jess, Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden - on the show. Then, we used it for the Audio Bullys, who closed the show." He continues, "I was happy to see Allen & Heath at Ultrafest. They're making audio engineers at venues and clubs very happy, because the sound quality of Allen & Heath mixers is protecting their systems and making things sound so much better." Additionally, Allen & Heath co-sponsored the VIP Ultrabeach Arena with the Hard Rock Café. The stage featured top DJs spinning day and night including Andy Rigby-Jones, the designer of Allen & Heath's Xone products. Andy is an established DJ with over 20 years experience. The VIP Ultrabeach Arena also served as a preview of the Ultrabeach Party planned for summer 2004 in Miami. The PA system was supplied by the UK's renowned Opus Audio + Post comment/question/reply
